Three films on one of the most important living artists worlwide, who is at the same time a revolutionary painter and a human mirror of German history. Born during World War Two in Saxony, first rebellious art student, then fired from the communist GDR at the end of the Fifties, working many years without any success in West Germany and finally famous. In 1987, Baselitz prepared his first on-camera interview like it was a performance. In the two following films, the painter and sculptor, today 80 years old, is systematically confronted with provocative statement he gave before. A unique longtime-observation of an artist and his work.
