Jannis Kounellis - Frammenti di un diario (1996) 

Jannis Kounellis always called himself a painter, but had not painted since the mid-Sixties, when he became one of the founders of the Italien Arte Povera, freeing painting from brush and canvas and using instead so-called 'poor' materials, such as iron, stoans, coal, coffee, etc. He produced three-dimensional images which surround the viewer and make him disappear. Like a voyage, the film returns with Kounellis, who lived in Rome, to his birth town Piraeus for his first big show in Greece, on an old cargo ship, symbol for life and career of this Ulysses of the art world, arriving somewhere only to leave again. The film be meets him again in the streets of Rome or in his house on the island of Hydra.
